OWN THE SKY delves into one man’s relentless obsession with the tantalising potential of self-flight. Shot over a ten-year period, the filmmaker follows Australian David Mayman on his quest to fulfil his childhood dream of building and flying the world’s first Jet Pack and ultimately soaring it around the Statue of Liberty. David recruits a pair of old American “self-flight” gurus, the three time Academy Award winning engineer Nelson Tyler and Bill Suitor the Bell Aerospace test pilot of LA Olympics rocket belt fame. He harnesses their shared passion for self-flight but his dream soon unravels into an all-consuming addiction, threatening to fracture his team, his family and possibly cost him his life
