The story of three people in a big city trying to find more fulfilling lives. Judith, a former flight attendant, lives with her young son alone in a new residential area on the outskirts of the city. Ulrike has been dumped by her longtime boyfriend. Jochen works various odd jobs, hoping one day to work as an insurance agent and own his own home.
