A small town reporter leaves his best friend, Swanson, a small fortune and part-ownership of a night club after he is brutally murdered. Swanson becomes entangled in the luxurious life of the underground ignoring his wife and two sons. His wife, fed up with his behavior, decides to take the kids and leave. As she drives away the youngest son jumps from the car and is killed by a passing truck. Meanwhile Swanson is approached to do some dirty work for the Mob. When he refuses to do their bidding, his eldest son is killed. Swanson goes out for revenge against the Mob, systematically killing them off. In the end he reunites with his wife.
