Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Flotsam (Olive Thomas) is the tomboy daughter of a lighthouse keeper with a dark secret: he killed a man. At least, that's what his assistant has been holding over his head for years. One night Flotsam saves a wealthy woman (Mary Coverdale) when her yacht overturns. The woman has a son, Edward Elmer (Huntley Gordon), and he falls in love with Flotsam. When it turns out that the murdered man was Edward's father, the lighthouse keeper insists that he is not really Flotsam's father, so he won't stand in the couple's way. Flotsam believes this and goes to the Elmers' yacht, but when she finds out that he lied for her sake, she returns to him. The assistant finally admits that he is the one who killed Mr. Elmer. There is a fight between the father and the assistant, during which the light goes out in the lighthouse. The Elmers' yacht is in danger, so Flotsam takes a flaming torch and saves it from disaster, after which the couple is reunited.
