This is a fairly lavishly produced but otherwise relatively undistinguished sword-and-sandal adventure. Mickey Hargitay lacks anything resembling Steve Reeves' charismatic image onscreen, and Jayne Mansfield is completely out of her depth in both of her roles (and downright uncomfortable as the heroine), though she is good to look at. The material is put together in a slipshod way, without a great deal of dramatic cohesiveness, but it is fun and the grove containing the Amazon queen's former lovers is nicely eerie.
