Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein
The lesser of two screen versions of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic story to be released in 1920, this Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was reportedly based on the famous stage interpretation by Richard Mansfield. Despite warnings from his friend and potential father-in-law, Dr. Lanyon (Alexander Shannon), the kindhearted Dr. Jekyll (Sheldon Lewis) persists in going ahead with his experiments to separate good from evil in mankind. Using himself as a guinea pig, the good doctor turns into the monstrous Mr. Hyde right in front of his fiancé Bernice (Gladys Field). But, happily, it is all just a bad dream and a refreshed Dr. Jekyll takes his friend's advice and ceases the experiment.
