Set in a gritty Los Angeles, the philosophy-tinged In a Spiral State follows an angel who is intrigued by the city's underground community -- especially one woman who wants to die and three who want to kill. This is a drug-addled take on a drug-addled environment, but love and beauty trickle through the dirt.
