The orphan boy Timm Thaler (Arved Friese) has always been a lively and sociable contemporary. It is precisely because of his infectious laughter that the sympathies of his fellow-men fly rightly. For this reason, Baron Lefuet (Justus von Dohnányi), who is as rich as it is unscrupulous, has also chosen to offer the boy a very special deal: Timm gets the guarantee that he will win every bet when he sells the baron his laughter . The boy can not resist the tempting offer, and first of all he believes that the fulfillment of all his longing desires is a big step closer. But without his laughter, the joy of his lonely life is also diminishing. Timm's friends Kreschimir (Charly Hübner) and Ida (Jule Hermann) do not want to stand idly. Together with Timm, they forge a plan to trick the baron and win Timm's laughter.
