The Front Runner is an upcoming American biographical dark comedy film directed by Jason Reitman, based on the 2014 book All the Truth Is Out: The Week Politics Went Tabloid, written by Matt Bai. Reitman co-wrote the screenplay with Bai and Jay Carson. The film chronicles the rise of American Senator Gary Hart, a Democratic presidential candidate in 1988, and his subsequent fall from grace when media reports surfaced of his extramarital affair. It stars Hugh Jackman as Hart, with Vera Farmiga, Kaitlyn Dever, Sara Paxton, Molly Ephraim, and J. K. Simmons also starring.
The film is scheduled to be released on November 7, 2018, by Sony Pictures.
