The insurance agent Vincent Baumann, a cold careerist, bondsman of a merciless system, is himself victim of the companies he represents. Demoted to the henchmen, he intently doggedly returns to the labor market, fighting to rise. He comes to realize values beyond income and success. And he decides against his former belief, for another person, for Lisa Sokulowa.
