Ethel Merman is the owner of a saloon set in the midst of a revolution by the town's miners. She sets her customers swinging with her lively philosophy of life in 'Be Like Me'. At the thought of being separated from her lover, however, Ethel turns to a sentimental rendition of 'After I'm Gone'. Within minutes, the same song becomes a rousing fanfare to love, when he assures Ethel they will be together.
