The film features Aretha Franklin recording her 1972 live album of the same name, and co-stars James Cleveland, C. L. Franklin, Bernard Purdie, Chuck Rainey, Clara Ward, with cameos by Mick Jagger, Sydney Pollack, and Charlie Watts.
