Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The frequently filmed Zane Grey story Under the Tonto Rim was again brought to the silver screen by Paramount in 1928. Opening with an exciting gold rush sequence, the story settles down in a prosperous mining camp, where the prospectors are forever at the mercy of murderous claim jumpers. To protect themselves, the miners form a vigilante committee under the leadership of hero Richard Arlen. In traditional Zane Grey fashion, Arlen is motivated by revenge: his father had been killed by claim jumpers early in the proceedings. Heroes and villains pursue one another throughout the final reels, culminating in a bloody, all-stops-out battle between the forces of Good and Evil. All-purpose Paramount heroine Mary Brian shows up as Arlen's love interest.
