Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The 52-minute documentary Gorilla Hunt was produced by Winkler Pictures, a small firm which normally specialized in animated cartoons (including Disney's "Oswald Rabbit" shorts). Great white hunter Ben Burbridge and a group of his friends travel 1000 miles down the Congo river to Stanleyville, then head deep into the jungle interior. Their mission: To capture a huge gorilla and bring it back alive. Along the way, Burbridge encounters cannibals, pygmies, and various and sundry animal predators. Gorilla Hunt was released by FBO, whose successor, RKO Radio, continued in the tradition by releasing the Frank Buck travelogues of the 1930s.
