Synopsis by Sean Hurley

This video documents the long road towards communism undertaken by the Chinese, dating back to the idealistic Sun Yat-sen in the 1920s. Guided by the Bolsheviks, whose successful revolution led to communist rule in Russia, Sun Yat-sen planted the seeds for the revolution that would culminate with the installation of Mao Tse-tung as the Chairman of the People's Republic of China. This video traces this history, including the role played by Chiang Kai-shek and the difficulties that arose with Mao as each vied for power in the gathering revolution. Modern-day history of Chinese communism is also included, with glimpses into the causes for the ideological split between Soviet Russia and the Peoples Republic, China's role in the Korean War, Mao's Cultural Revolution, the occupation of Tibet, and the massacre at Tiananmen Square.
