Synopsis by Mark Deming

Shot in 1966, just as the "mod" culture of the 1960s was starting to give way to the more serious counterculture upheaval of the hippie scene, Mondo Mod is a cheerfully exploitive "documentary" which offers a look at America's youth going wild on California's star-struck Sunset Strip. See bikers in action, go-go dancers doing their thing, groovy rock bands shaking it out (most of whom you've never heard of, though if you look carefully you can see but not hear Frank Zappa), surfers riding the waves and ogling bikini-clad beach bunnies, teens racing go-karts, weirdos experimenting with LSD, and much, much more! Then-popular L.A. disc jockey Humble Harve serves as narrator.
