Synopsis by Janiss Garza

When he completes his latest job, engineer MacNeir (virile Hobart Bosworth) celebrates in his usual way -- by getting thoroughly drunk at a low-down saloon. He gets in a fist fight with a Frenchman, Jean Saval (Roland V. Lee), but the two wind up becoming friends. In the morning, MacNeir discovers that Saval is also an engineer and they go on a job together in Chinook country. There, Saval meets Sylvia Harris (Jean Calhoun) and plans to marry her. But he's called back to France to fight in World War I before he can find a minister. Sylvia and MacNeir hear that he has been killed, so he marries her in order that her child by Saval will have a name. But four years later, Saval -- who was imprisoned by the Germans -reappears. He thinks that instead of protecting his girl, MacNeir has stolen her away and denounces him. But he finally figures out the truth and, since he believes that Sylvia loves MacNeir, is prepared to go away. But MacNeir insists that she decide where her heart really lays. Although she is grateful to MacNeir, she still loves Saval, so MacNeir tearfully lets her go.
