This British war documentary was reportedly conceived as an answer to the "distortions" set forth in the Hollywood WWII drama Objective Burma. Produced by the British Army Film Unit, the film utilizes "pool" newsreel footage to detail Allied activities in Burma from 1943 to 1944. Essential to the film's continuity is the arduous construction of The Burma Road, which enabled the Allies to send supplies to war-torn China. Unlike Objective Burma, which tacitly suggests that Americans alone were responsible for smashing the Japanese in Burma, the 62-minute Burma Victory underlines the vital contributions of the British, Australians and Chinese. The film was distributed stateside by Warner Bros. -- ironically the producers of the "offensive" Objective Burma.
