Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Usually, the dynamic Dorothy Dalton starred in action-packed dramas, and she was sorely miscast as a meek little ingenue here. Jeanne Mesurier (Dalton) is an orphaned heiress whose aunt, Madame Ena Delore (Julia Swayne Gordon), wants to marry her off to the elderly Maurice Brensault (Alex Kaufman) -- for a price, of course. This isn't Madame's only money-making scheme -- she also runs a crooked card game with the help of Major Nigel Forrest (William P. Carleton). Cecil Bourne (Kempton Greene) invites them to play bridge at Westhaven Manor, and they go, hoping to fleece wealthy Ronald Engleton (Lewis Broughton). Jeanne accompanies Madame and falls in love with Cecil's eccentric brother, Andrew (Fredrik Vogeding). She discovers the devious ways of her aunt and the Major, and informs Andrew. In spite of the schemers' attempt to silence Jeanne, Engleton -- who is really a detective -- captures them. Jeanne winds up with Andrew instead of creaky old Brensault. This picture was based on the novel, Jeanne of the Marshes, by E. Phillips Oppenheim.
