Orion Pictures Corporation
In 1978 Orion Pictures was founded with the intent of financing, producing and distribution motion pictures. It was founded by previous executives of United Artists who were dissatisfied with United Artist's decisions and guiding principles. The "five" is indicated in the name of Orion for the constellation made up of "five" stars. Initially they had close connections with Warner Brothers but in 1982 they assimilated with Filmways Inc. Orion produced a number of Woody Allen features as well as "Arthur," "Amadeus," "Platoon," "Dances With Wolves," and "The Silence of the Lambs."
