Film glossary definition for:
Hype
Over excessive advertisements of film. The "hype" that is given a film movie is often more interesting and provocative than the film itself. Hype can be used in an attempt to convince audiences to see a particular film. Those that are over-advertised, considering their artistic merits, leave the public disappointed. Floods on the markets of radio, television, together with the appearance of film personalities are all part of this marketing ploy.
