Hands-on Animation
Effectively used in "Anchors Away" (starring Gene Kelly, 1945) in a dance sequence with Gene Kelly and the animated figure of Jerry Mouse (Tom and Jerry). This form of animation combines live performers with animated characters. The animated product is matted in combination with the live action photography to give the appearance of simultaneity between performer and cartoon.
