Dead
An aesthetic and acoustic term that refers to spaces with little or no reverberation. Rooms with many pieces of furniture and carpeted floors often result in this type of "dead" space. In some cases such a room is needed for making recordings and will be so constructed as to have carpet on all surfaces of the room including the walls and ceiling.
