Film glossary definition for: Computer Graphics |
|
Data is fed into a computer including the setting, composition, lighting and movement for a particular scene. Visual information is added to the substantive portion of the processed film. This information often comes in the physical form of pixels -- tiny dots used to form large images. ["Pointillism" in the plastic arts is a common reference.] Pixels are colorful "pictured elements" used for special effects and for enhancing images. These effects are computer generated and added to film through electronic emissions of a cathode ray tube. (See "animation," "cathode ray tube," and "computer animation".) |
