This movie type contains titles that present, examine, or compare the folklore of various peoples throughout the world and throughout time -- the stories and heroes that explain or valorize origins, histories, social structures, and the natural world. Analysis of these myths usually attempts to trace similar signifiers and meanings across diverse cultures. The Mythos series with Joseph Campbell is a prime example.
