"They" are among us in director John Carpenter's action-packed flick They Live. Presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, Image Entertainment's work on this transfer is very nice. The colors are all defined and solid with the black levels showing up even and well saturated. While a small amount of pixilation and edge enhancement show up from time to time, overall this is a very presentable transfer of the film. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital Surround in English and supports the film well. While a newly remixed 5.1 track would have been preferred, overall this sound mix does what's needed with only a minimal amount of distortion or hiss. No alternate soundtracks or subtitles are available on this disc. Someday fans of They Live may see a "special edition" in the works -- until then, they'll have to be placated with this supplemental free DVD edition.
