Jacques Demy's debut feature, the love story Lola, stars Anouk Aimée and Marc Michel as lovers whose pasts intertwine in such a way as to assure their one day meeting each other. The film comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. The film has never before looked so good on home video. The French soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. Supplemental materials include the film's theatrical trailer, and a portion of a documentary called The World of Jacques Demy. This is an outstanding disc for any film enthusiast, but French film lovers are especially encouraged to seek it out.
