Taylor Hackford's loose remake of the noir classic Out of the Past, Against All Odds, comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, and Thai subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by director Hackford, screenwriter Eric Hughes, and lead actors Jeff Bridges and James Woods; deleted scenes with optional commentary from Hackford; a pair of music videos; trailers; and production notes. Whatever what one thinks of the film, this is a great disc from Columbia/TriStar that is offered at a very reasonable list price.
