- Was elected as the Vice President of the country in 1992.
- Was the Chairman of the Presidential Anti –Crime Commission (PACC), a post from which he resigned in 1997.
- Got elected as the President of the Philippines in 1998, but was overthrown in 2002 after an impeachment case being filed against him.
- In 2007, 6 years after his arrest for corruption, he was sentenced to life in prison.
- Established the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Inc., which aims to provide workers in the movie industry with financial and professional assistance.
- Is the founder and president of the ERAP Para sa Mahirap Foundation, an organization that offers scholarships to poor, but deserving, students.
