Biography by AllMovie

American actress Edwina Booth, born Edwina Woodruff, played leads from the late '20s through the early '30s in feature films and serials, but she is best known for the troubles she encountered while playing the "white goddess" in Trader Horn (1931) on location in Africa. While there she caught a strange "jungle fever" which left her bed-ridden for five years and destroyed her career. Later she filed a $1 million lawsuit against MGM saying they failed to protect her health during filming. She won an undisclosed amount in the ensuing battle.
